Some people may not want to know what lies beneath the skins surface but for those who complete a skin assessment at Face Plus Medispa, Bondi Junction, we will reveal ALL.
Using the VISIA machine, cross-polarised and UV lighting are used to record and measure surface and subsurface skin conditions.
Your VISIA assessment journey:
1. Your skin will first be cleansed thoroughly prior to your skin assessment.
2. Following your cleanse the dermal therapist will then place your face into the VISIA machine.
3. The VISIA machine will measure the level of:
UV Spots, only visible via the VISIA. UV spots occurs when melanin coagulates below the skin surface as a result of sun damage.
Spots, typically brown or red skin lesions including freckles, acne scars, hyper-pigmentation and vascular lesions. Your therapist will be able to advise you of problem areas and cause.
Brown Spots, lesions on the skin such as hyper-pigmentation, freckles, lentigines and melisma. These spot are visible with the naked eye unless they are below the surface. Spots below the surface will appear if expose to the sun and other free radicals.
Red areas represent a number of conditions, such as acne, inflammation, rosacea or spider veins.
Wrinkles, furrows, folds or creases in the skin will be clearly outlined and your dermal therapist will advise the quantity and main area of visible folds.
Texture, primarily measure the smoothness of your skin and will be able to advise the depth of a peel or frequency of exfoliation required.
Pores, surface opening of sweat duct glands. The VISIA will capture the total number of pores.
Porphyrins are bacterial excretions that can become lodged in the pores and lead to acne. This can be difficult to pick up with the naked eye but clearly visible but with the help of the VISIA your therapist will be able to target the area before the acne appears on the surface of the skin.
Two functions that some love, hate or fear are
True skin age, this function will advise the true age of your skin in comparison to other people the same age as you. It is not always entirely accurate as the machine does not take into consideration your background or where you live.
Finally, the Simulation You can also take a peek at what you will look like in years to come. This is great for those who have healthy skin! For those who have a lot of lines, wrinkles, pigmentation and skin damage can be quite confronting.
The VISIA analysis will highlight both the positives and negatives of your skin.
