Fillers are injected in areas which will lift and recreate lost volume due to aging or weight loss.
In a recent survey conducted by Face Plus Medispa, many of you were keen to find out more about the range of fillers that we carry.
This week we are focusing on some of the most popular, hyaluronic acid dermal fillers we offer for the lips.
Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance found in the body. It helps increase volume in your lips. Hyaluronic acid dermal fillers are safe and effects can last up to 6 months.
We asked Clinical Manager, Jean-Charles Neveu Collins to explain:
Juvederm, Vobella is not a volumiser, but a great product for matured lips that require hydration. This versatile product can also be used to hydrate smoker lips.
 
Juvederm, VoLift is great if you’re looking for that perfect pout and “juicy lips”. Lips may swell more initially, downtime maybe required for the swelling to go down.
 
Emervel, Classic is a fantastic option for lip filler virgins. This product is quite cohesive like Emervel, Lips, but won’t give the patient too much volume.
It is a great product for hydration and correcting lip lines. This product might not last as long as Emervel lip/VoLift/Juvederm, Ultra, but it is a great stepping stone for someone who is anxious about having their lips done for the first time and afraid of the outcome.
 
Teosyal, KISS is great for creating big lips. This product is really soft despite being a lip volumiser. Note: this product is not suitable for all lips. It is up to the nurse/physician to decide if the patient’s lips are appropriate.
The other great benefit is that these fillers can be easily and quickly dissolved if you are unhappy with the results.

An allergic reaction are unlikely. Because hyaluronic acid fillers are made from substances similar to those found in the body, they are unlikely to cause an allergic reaction. But if you are allergic to lidocaine, tell your nurse/physician before being treated.

This beautiful treatment for the delicate eye tissue includes pressure point massage which stimulates lymph drainage. Lymph drainage is a type of gentle massage which encourages the natural drainage of the lymph, which carries waste product away from the tissues back toward the heart.
The stimulation of lymph drainage is important as the lymphatic system has no “pump” of its own to move lymph through the system. Rather, bodily movement and breathing function to move liquid lymph through the vessels and filters of the lymph nodes. For people who don’t exercise enough and eat too much processed food, the lymphatic system can easily be overtaxed – resulting in a body that is susceptible to infection and disease.

Use a flesh toned eyeliner on the waterline, this gives the appearance of bigger brighter eyes.
You can define the eyes still using an eyeshadow a few shades darker than you skin, like a coffee colour, smudges into the lashes.
Mascara on the top lashes are a MUST!

In the moment: Simple ways to introduce mindfulness into your day

The act of mindfulness is summed up by being in the ‘present moment’. That is, not worrying about the past or day dreaming about the future; focusing on the task at hand and just ‘being’.
Easier said than done.
In a world of instant gratification and constant stimulation – be it social media, our phones, television, advertising, and the list goes on – we are constantly being bombarded with signals and noise and chatter, that switching off and just ‘being’ is a LOT harder than it sounds. That being said, mindfulness does wonders for your mental state, especially if you are susceptible to anxiety which is often stimulated by a fear of ‘what if…’. When you are truly present and mindful, what if doesn’t exist.

Here are some easy ways to start incorporating mindfulness into your day:
 
Brushing your teeth
This is an easy one. Start by picking up your toothbrush and noticing how it feels. Take in the colour and the state of the bristles. As you squeeze out the toothpaste, watch the shape it forms. Smell it if you like. Lather up the water and really notice how brushing your teeth actually FEELS. What does it taste like? How hard/soft are you brushing? If your mind wanders, try and direct your attention back to the simple act of brushing your teeth.
 
Eating
Mindfulness while eating is a wonderful way to manage binge eating and control how much you eat – you are far more likely to stop eating once you are satisfied as you will notice that ‘full’ feeling much earlier. Take time to chew your food, paying attention to the flavours, and even smelling your food before you take a mouthful. Sit between mouthfuls – even place your fork down if you have to. This controlled way of eating aids digestion and leaves you feeling far more satisfied.
 
On your commute
Try to take in the sights and sounds around you on your morning commute. Switch off the phone and just ‘be’. People watch, but try not to get too caught up in your head around the ‘stories’ we make up about other people. Just watch, observe, notice smells, sights and sounds – and tune into simply being in the present moment.
 
Walking
Incorporating an evening walk into your daily routine is a wonderful way to add mindfulness to your day, as well as additional body movement. It needn’t be longer than 10 minutes. Leave the headphones and phone at home, and just walk wherever you feel pulled to that day. Look around you, take in the sights and sounds and focus on deep belly breathing for added relaxation.
 
 
State of flow activities
 State of flow activities are those hobbies you participate in that require a level of focus, where there is no concept of time, and you genuinely enjoy the activity at hand. Things like surfing, golf, meditation, yoga, cooking and reading are all wonderful state of flow activities that also incorporate an element of mindfulness.
