Super Hydration: The Beauty Boost

We are so thrilled to be sharing this treatment with you.

It targets so many areas that women in particular, dislike as they age.

The treatment is called “The Beauty Boost” and it is a new injectable treatment that Face Plus Medispa offer. Like all other injectable treatments, the results are not permanent, you’ll be wishing they were!

The plus side is that the results may not be permanent but the layers of the skin are improved and strengthened by some of the key ingredients in this filler.
Let starts with the basics, what’s in it?

Unlike other fillers that contain hyaluronic acid alone, the Beauty Boost has a unique, high concentration of natural and free hyaluronic acid and a combination of anti-oxidants, amino acids, minerals and vitamins, all of which are naturally present in our skin.

Hyaluronic acid (HA), which is naturally present in our body, performs a fundamental role in keeping the skin in good health. This essential element of the dermis retains water like a sponge so as to maintain its hydration.

As we age some of us lose up to two thirds of our HA pool. By the time you turn 35, your skin’s thickness has decreased by about 22%.
The skin becomes thinner, more fragile, dehydrated and its elasticity diminishes.
About 80% of facial skin ageing is attributed to UV exposure, Australians in particular are greatly impacted by this fact.

If you have been to our clinic before or read our blogs, you may be familiar with our belief that, prevention is key. When clients visit us for an injectable treatment we often refer them to other skin treatments such as Laser Genesis before starting the injectable process, this is to strengthen and bring health back to the skin.

Some may see this injectable treatment as “invasive” we believe this treatment too, is an effective, preventative treatment.
The Beauty Boost is designed to prevent premature ageing of the skin and boost the radiance of the face, neck and other areas that begin to “sag”.

The Beauty Boost compensates the natural loss of HA and stimulates the auto-production of collagen to:
– Smooth out wrinkles
– Restore volume
– Enhance skin glow
This treatment is perfect for the face and neck, yep your neck! Those unsightly sagging neck lines, be gone, this will do the trick!

If you have experienced the “Dermapen, skin needling”, this will be a similar experience.
Using a handheld machine with five to nine needles (quantity will depend on the treatment area), micro-injections are given with the very fine needles and a small quantity of the Beauty Boost is evenly injected into the whole surface of the face and/or neck. The micro-injections are shallow and are very fine needles.

The Beauty Boost does contain a local anaesthetic and of course, we always apply our patent numbing cream for additional comfort.

You will see results immediately and you must return for two additional sessions, three weeks apart for optimal results.

As mentioned earlier in the blog, the boost contains additional vitamins and minerals to boost the skin, patients will need to return for an additional round of treatments six months following the first treatment.

Following two or three rounds of full treatments six months apart, patients will only need to return a single session a few times a year!

This treatment is currently only available from our Clinical Manager and Senior Cosmetic Nurse Injector, Jean Charles Neveu Collins. He currently treats out of the Bondi Junction and Bankstown clinics.

Comfort food for the skin: Soothing Serum

In the cooler months, we all need extra love, especially our skin.

Many patients present to our clinic with redness including rosaceous, sensitive or irritated skin when the weather is cool. Other than a tailored facial at Face Plus Medispa, we recommend the Soothing Serum by HydroPeptide.

The Soothing Serum has been formulated with calming peptides and a botanical stem cell that reduces the appearance of redness while comforting sensitive or irritated skin.

The serum will also help strengthen the skin’s natural defence systems and promote a rapid recovery from skin resurfacing procedures, waxing or other treatments that may have caused redness and irritation to the skin.

The details…
The Soothing Serum contains six peptides, anti-redness, neutralising, hydration, volumising and preservative. These peptides reduce inflammation and the feelings of sensitivity. They enhance water transport proteins to improve hydration, restores the skins barrier function and boosts both collagen and elastin!

Thanks to these key ingredients you will see a reduction in redness, calm and soothed irritated skin, restored and balanced hydration, firm skin and the reduction in visible fine lines and wrinkles.

Detoxifying botanical stem cells, restore the skins own defences, reduce glycation, which is the hardening of collagen and minimise redness. The complexion will become even, redness minimised and delay the signs of aging.

Shea, sunflower, jojoba and hyaluronic acid are emollients and humectants. These ingredients hydrate and moisturise the skin whilst forming a protective barrier.

Arnica, chamomile and beta glucan are the anti-irritants and anti-inflammatories present in the serum and it will soothe, heal, calm and promote the skin to recover.
Soothing Serum by HydroPeptide, $199

We recommend you use this product twice a day when the skin is clean, especially in the cooler seasons. Simply apply a small amount all over the face and neck following a thorough cleanse.

If you have sensitive skin, we recommend you try the milk cleanser listed in this blog
If a daily serum is too much to add to your regime, a night time mask will also assist, try this one out this Dr Spiller Mask.

Concealer is every woman’s secret weapon!

Now, if you think from the title of the blog we are implying you should conceal the truth to seal any deal, we’re not. We just like how it rhymes, really, that’s it!

Let’s move on…
Concealer, love the stuff! Don’t you love, on a good skin day, all you have to do is pop on a little concealer and make up done?

Little to no makeup is always the end goal, our beautiful client Chloe Morello gets it.

Trust us when we say that spot concealing is life changing. By applying concealer only where you need it, your skin WILL look flawless and still look like natural, glowing, non-cakey skin.

Masking the skin, you’re trying to cover up with a heavy makeup will only worsen or even create a breakout.

Face Plus Medispa stock a range of mineral concealers by Jane Iredale. Let go through your target concerns and which might be best –For acne scars, veins, tattoo or redness we love the Disappear Full Coverage Concealer.

It offers high coverage with an opaque finish to blur and diffuse the look of imperfections.

The Corrective Colours palette kit contains four hues, offering full coverage and an endless number of custom shade combinations.

The formula, as mentioned above created to conceal post-operative bruising; yellow conceals redness, peach hides the blue, purple covers the grey tones whilst lilac camouflages yellow tones and beige hides any post inflammatory
hyperpigmentation left behind.

The formula combines green tea extract, beeswax, morninga butter and avocado oil to calm, sooth and assist with the healing of the skin.

Happiness: Go with the flow

Flow is a state of mind in which a person becomes fully immersed in an activity.

There’s this thing we learned in positive psychology called ‘state of flow’. Basically, what it means is that, in order to be living a truly positive and happy life, we must be engaging in activities that provide us with some level of ‘flow’.

When you are in ‘flow’ the following things happen:

  • You lose track of time because you are so caught up in what you are doing
  • There is an element of difficulty or challenge to the activity requiring you to really focus on the task at hand
  • You love what you are doing so much and get pure joy from the activity that you could do it for hours and not even notice

The documentary Happy on Netflix touches on this too, and it is something I teach all my clients. For us to truly put ourselves first, we need to be engaging in activities that really bring us joy.

State of flow activities are some of these things. They could include surfing, golf, video games (sorry ladies), cooking, meditating, writing, reading, craft, puzzles, photography, board games, yoga, hiking, even team sports!

The aim is to get you into that ‘flow’ state as often as possible – daily is ideal. Are you currently engaging in any state of flow activities in your life? You may be and not even realise you are doing it!

Or maybe you have had a bit of a wake up call that it is time to engage more in activities for you.

That is okay – it happens as we grow up. When we were children our parents would enroll us into all sorts of flow activities and after school hobbies, like dance and sport and art. And a little part of us forgets this as we get older, and parties and our social life take priority.

Engaging in flow activities and things that truly light you up is part of reclaiming that youth that you may have lost.

What is great about these things is, while yes you can absolutely do them alone (and for some of you that would be ideal) – you can also use this as a time to meet new people with similar interests.

Join a book club, head to a workshop or look up a local women’s circle. If part of your people pleasing tendencies has lead you to toxic friendships that you are finding difficult to release – start spending your time with new people who have something in common with you.

The more of your ‘soul tribe’ you actively call in (by putting yourself out there and engaging in activities that light you up) then your older, more toxic friendships will naturally disintegrate. Consider it like nature – everything has its season.

The beautiful tree in your garden turns brown and drops its leaves to make way for new green foliage. Just like you – dropping the things that no longer light you up and bring you joy – to make way for the things, and the people, that do!

Another cool part of engaging in state of flow activities like the above, is that you can also incorporate it as a social catch up (if you want to) – two birds, one stone. Maybe you and your bestie commit to a weekly yoga class, or you and your work colleague go to a meditation seminar at lunch. So you are doing something for yourself, while also spending time with a loved one!

I know there is nothing more that people pleasers like than productivity, so this is me trying to help you guys out. But remember – if you would PREFER your state of flow activities to be on your own, then so be it.

Excellent. This is for you to do whatever makes YOU feel good.
