Just 5 days: Fresh new skin

New Skin in Five Days!

Tired skin is usually thanks to lack of sleep and poor diet. Correcting diet and prioritising sleep will help bring that glow back to the skin.

If our suggestions are not realistic or if you just need that manual skin turn over the Herbal AKtiv Peel By Alex Cosmetics is a must!

The peel will truly give you new skin in just 5 days.
It is a resurfacing peel, don’t let that scare you away if you have experienced some harsh skin peels such as dermabrasion, acid and heat related!

The Herbal AKtiv is a unique skin resurfacing treatment using natural botanicals. This means it is free of:
Harsh Chemicals
Synthetic peeling ingredients
The Herbal Aktiv, as its name would suggest is a patented formula of dried, crushed herbs to peel away skin and reveal plump new energised skin!

This isn’t a new peel, this particular peel has over 50 years of success!
Why does it take 5 days you ask?

The Herbal Aktiv Peel is a manual natural process, you can read a patient experience here

Day one: This is the first step, to have the facial to begin the process. The facial takes about 45 minutes to an hour. You will walk out of your facial looking flush and skin will be tingling!

Day two: Your dermal therapist will prescribe you with products to use at home:
Lotion –  Soothe and protect the skin, relieves tension and provides hydration, reduce redness and irritation and contains anti-irritating, anti-inflammatory properties.

Moisturiser – Calm and soothe, improve skin resistance, re-hydrate and regenerate and works as an antiseptic, revitalising and nurturing for eczema.

Clear cream – A specialty cream with tea tree oil, reduces impurities from spreading and normalises sebaceous production. You will also see a reduction in redness and irritation, refined pores and hydrated skin.

Day three: You will continue to use the above at home products prescribed. Your skin will begin peeling on this day.

Day four: You will continue to apply the at home products. You will see a considerable amount of peeling. If you work in an environment that you may be uncomfortable with peeling skin, you may want to stay home. The peeling varies from patient to patient.

Day five: This will be the day that you are waiting for! You will return to Face Plus Medispa for your final facial. The final facial will remove all of the excess skin that may be present and reveal that new skin.

The treatment can be performed on a monthly basis if necessary but most of our patients find treatment every 6 months, greatly benefits their skin health and appearance.
To give that skin the wake-up call it needs, book in for a skin consultation.

Not all patients will be prepared for the peel and may need to begin with other facials to best prepare the skin for the Herbal Aktiv Peel. Find out more here

Clarify & Restore: Hydrostem + 6 by HydroPeptide

If tired and aging skin are your two main concerns, this serum is one you want in your corner!

The Hydrostem + 6 is a powerful serum that combines rejuvenating peptides with six antioxidant-rich botanical stem cells that guard against free radicals and create more radiant, ageless looking skin.

High performing hydrators nourish and restore moisture balance. Skin clarity and luminosity immediately improve while the appearance of fines lines and wrinkles diminish.

Gardenia, edelweiss (just like in Sound of Music), Echinacea, gotu kola, lilac and buddleja stem cells work with a coenzyme Q10 activating peptide designed to keep collagen at its maximum potential.

Key features:
5 peptides:
are volumising, CoQ10, activating and preservative peptides. The 5 peptide boosts collagen and elastin in the dermo-epidermal junction (DEJ) and activates C0Q10 production.

The DEJ is the area of tissue that joins the epidermal and the dermal layers of the skin.

Skin firmness enhances, boosts cell energy production and reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
6 plant derived stem cells: are an antioxidant, firming, hydrating, rejuvenating, smoothing and clearing.
Antioxidant resistance booster, preserves hyaluronic acid, increase hydration, stimulate collagen and elastin and control oil production.

The stem cells are powerful antioxidants that provide superior free-radical protection and nourishment helping to delay the signs of aging and improve youthful looking skin.

Green tea and Niacin: heals and prevents skin from losing water content while providing antiaging benefits.
There two key ingredients reduce irritation while keeping the skin hydrated and firm.
The serum can be used morning and night and it is the ultimate antiaging product.
Lacklustre, dull and aging skin will see great benefits.

Create the look: 8 Hours of sleep

“Let’s start by taking a smallish nap or two..”- Winnie the Pooh

Anyone trying to adult through life does not get a full 8 hours of sleep, each and every night.

If you do, you’re incredibly lucky! Could you please let us know how you do it?? Those of us who are sleep deprived or just seem to look tired, all the time, need a little help from the makeup gods.

The first step is concealer, we are all aware of its magical powers but remember too much can be a bad thing. Find our top concealers here.

Here are our tips to looking less tired:
Foundation – Make sure you’re using the right foundation for your skin type. You want a foundation that will give you glowing dewy skin. Nothing that will dry you out or wash you out! Read our tips on finding the right foundation for you here.

Lashes – curling them will give your eyes the appearance of being more open. Go that one step further and invest in some eyelash extensions! In the early 2000’s the lashes were costly and the glue was a little questionable, now days lash extensions feel light weight and do not impact your day to day skincare routine.

Eyeliner – Trying using two different shades of liner above your top lashes. A darker colour closer to your lash line and a lighter tone just above it will make the white area of your eyes look brighter.
Adding a skin tone / nude liner to the lower lid will neutralise redness in and around the eyes.

Brows – Drawing away from the eyes is always a good idea. Read our brow tips here.
Blush – A pop of colour on your cheekbones will brighten your entire face.
We love the PurePressed blush by Jane Iredale, $55

A beautiful colour formulated with minerals and antioxidants to soothe and nourish the skin.

Feed the skin: Improve skin from the inside out

You’ve heard the saying “you are what you eat”, right?

When you eat the right balance of foods and you’ll be feeding your skin the vital nutrients to help it stay soft, supple and blemish free!

Five a day –  Fruit and veg are abundant in this country and we have some incredible affordable produce available. Fruit and vegies contain powerful antioxidants that help protect the skin from free radicals that cause cellular damage.

How can you not eat the beautiful, colourful range of fruit and vegetables? Pumpkin, carrots, sweet potatoes contain beta-carotene, kale, papaya and spinach contain lutein which are potent in antioxidants and very important for normal skin cell development and healthy skin tone.

Vitamin C – A super antioxidant. It helps to strengthen your immune system, radiant skin and allows blemishes to heal properly. Our favorite sources of Vitamin C are: blueberries, broccoli, kiwi fruit, oranges, papaya, strawberries and sweet potatoes.

They all assist in the production of collagen that strengthen capillaries that supply the skin.

Vitamin E – Protects the skin from cell damage and supports healthy skin growth. Including almonds, avocado, hazelnuts, pine nuts and sunflower oil will support and provide protection.

Selenium – It’s powerful antioxidant. A great way to boost your intake is to eat just four Brazil nuts!

Water – Dehydration will cause the skin to look dry, tired and even grey. Drink 6 to 8 glasses of water. If the nothing taste water isn’t for you, herbal tea counts towards your daily needs.

Good fats – make sure you’re getting omega 3 and omega 6 fats. These fats cannot be made by the body and must be obtained through the diet. These fats encourage the body to produce anti-inflammatory compounds, which help inflammatory skin conditions.

Low GI – Select carbohydrates that are low GI. High GI foods like biscuits lead to the production of insulin, which may damage collagen and accelerate the appearance of wrinkles!

Zinc – is key in the normal function of the sebaceous glands. Foods rich in zinc include fish, lean red meat, whole grains, poultry, nuts, seeds and shellfish.
If dry skin is a concern, read our food tips for dry skin here
