Bare back: Bacne treatment

Acne anywhere on the body can be tough.

The face is a common area that we discuss but our Medispa does have a “Plus” on the end of it and this blog is going to talk acne on other areas of the body.

Living in Australia and having acne anywhere on the body is tough.

We have a big beach culture and many love to enjoy being out in the sun. BUT if have acne on your body this can be difficult. Not only can it be painful, you might lack confidence and have some visibly scarring.

Face Plus Medispa offer a number of treatments to target acne and a number of conditions that result from having acne on your body.
View all of the treatment options here.

The key treatment that has worked for our clients is the Blue, LED Light Therapy treatment. The treatment takes a total of 16 to 20 minutes and after just 6 treatments results should be visible.

The blue light works on acne as this particular light was designed specifically to treat acne. Read more about the technology behind the blue light here.

A few questions that might be running through your head:

Does it hurt? No, it doesn’t hurt. It’s actually very relaxing and pain free. Most of our patients take a power nap during the treatment.

How long does it take? The light itself is placed over the areas that requires treatment for 16 to 20 minutes. The time difference is due to the machines we have at clinics. The entire treatment process may take longer as we need to clean the area prior to treatment.

How many treatments do I need? Depending on your acne we generally advise 6 treatments to start. Majority of our patients see a change following 6 treatments and only need to return every now and then to keep on top of the bacteria.

Clients are encouraged to have a light every second day and within a two-week period you should have completed all of your light treatments.

How much? If you are buying just one light it is $100. If you purchase a package of 6 lights they come down to $80 each.

But does it work? There have been a number of clinical trials performed on acne patients and we know that it works for ours.

The first step is to have a consultation with one of our experienced dermal therapists and they will be able to provide you with a clear treatment plan that may include these lights.
You can read about our consultation process here.

Centre stage: Highlight your features

Let’s talk about facial features.

We all have our favourite features and would love for them to shine above other features that you might not love as much.

Perfect skin: If you’ve been a Face Plus Medispa client then you should have near perfect skin without the need of makeup, right? If that’s the case, keep the skin simple. Use a good moisturiser, SPF if it’s during the day and a good BB cream without any nasty ingredients, you want to maintain that delicious complexion!

The windows to your soul: To let your eyes shine apply a black pencil or gel liner into the water lines between the water line and between the lashes. This technique created definition and makes the eyes POP!

Dotting a shimmery highlighter or eyeshadow in the inner corner of your eyes right by the tear ducts makes them look larger and brighter.
focus your mascara on the outer lashes to emphasize a wide, doe eyed appearance.
Side note: If you wear glasses make sure you try on a few pairs and take selfies! Flick through and see which glasses are most flattering for your features and best suit your personality. You might also like to select seasonal, day and night glasses too!

Brow down: Brows are an important feature for all. Find our simple four steps to perfect brows here.
Oh you cheeky: Sharp and defined cheekbones start with highlighter. Place a small amount of highlighter on the highest point of your cheekbone and brushing up towards your temple.

Keep em lush: The best way to highlight your lips without adding colour is by just adding a touch of highlighter to your cupid’s bow, the small V in the centre of your top lip.
For others, it’s about creating the look of higher cheekbones, luscious lips and slimmer jawline. Thanks to contouring this is all possible, check our tips on contouring here.

Contouring is amazing and we can thank Mario & Kim for enlightening us BUT Kim (Kardashian) also takes advantage of non-surgical and surgical options.

Bare: Love it all

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]
If there is one thing in the world I am most passionate about, it would be the power of self love  and how, in learning simple acts of kindness for yourself, you are able to give back tenfold to the people in your life.
There is an unfounded notion that to cultivate self love means acts of ‘selfishness’. That the two are synonymous when, in fact, they couldn’t be MORE different if they tried to be.
But I get it. I used to be that person myself.
I learned from the role models in my life that in order to be a ‘good’ and kind person, I should put every single person in my life first – hell, even my dog came before myself.
This created a vicious cycle of saying yes to things I wasn’t truly invested in, spending time with people who were draining and toxic to my energy, and even participating it outings/events/social occasions when all I truly wanted to be doing was resting on the couch.
After years of putting every person in my life before myself, my body gave out from underneath me. Literally. It was like it was saying – look Hollie, we know you aren’t going to listen to us, so we are going to make it IMPOSSIBLE for you to do anything. Not even the stuff you really WANT to be doing.
My diagnosis with adrenal fatigue (read: severe burnout) lead to me becoming the person I never wanted to be. I missed best friend’s birthdays. I had to nap in the office at work to get through each day. I was no longer allowed to train at the gym. I couldn’t support my partner, or see my family or friends, because just the act of getting off the couch was too much to bear. I became a burden. And it was totally avoidable.
The irony was, one of the key reasons I had gotten to this place was a desire to not appear selfish – to not put myself first. In not putting myself first – my health, both mental and physical – deteriorated rapidly, and I was no good to anyone in my life.
When I speak to mother’s especially about self love, it is like they cannot comprehend how looking after themselves first and foremost, could possibly impact their children in a positive way.
A burned out, stressed and sick mother is no good to anyone – not their children, not their partner, not their friends and definitely not themselves.
Just like a worn down, sleep deprived colleague is no good to be around.
It is high time we recognise that self love, making time for simple acts of joy every single day, is paramount to us being the best friend, partner and parent we can be.
The analogy goes like this – you cannot give from an empty cup. Yet this is what we try to do time and time again.
Rather, work on getting your cup overflowing – because you will have plenty to give from here.
And don’t tell me you don’t have time for self love – it can be 5 minutes of your day. Ideas include:

  • A warm bath with candles and essential oils
  • Enjoying a herbal tea and your favourite organic dark chocolate
  • Saying NO (with love) to that outing you really don’t want to go to, and chill at home instead (because rest is SO important)
  • Take yourself off for a walk to get your limbs moving and fresh air into your lungs
  • Enjoy a date night with your partner just because

Read our tips on giving the negativity the flick here.
Make time for self love every single day and watch how it changes the way you show up with your loved ones. Trust me when I say, they will love you, for loving you.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
