Rich: PRP

Rich, Platelet Rich Plasma, it really is liquid gold!

The PRP harvesting system available at Face Plus Medispa is TGA approved and supported by 112 published paper, 22 of those are specifically for the skin tissue. The application for PRP is endless, from antiaging to hair regeneration, even sexual dysfunction!

Using your own body’s resources, PRP works by drawing a vile or 2 of your own blood and injecting higher concentrations of platelets, which will release growth factors to the treatment site and stimulate new cell growth and regeneration.

Platelets in the blood play a key role in the body’s natural wound healing response.
PRP treatments work on all three layers of the skin, epidermal, dermal and subdermal. Clinical studies have shown significant improvement in skin sagging and firmness.

This treatment is suitable for all skin types including those who suffer from post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, such as Asians.

Following between 3 to 6 treatments, 1-month apart patients show signs of skin tightening, improved texture and tone, with less fine lines and wrinkles.

You can find out more about the treatment process here.

PRP can be provided as a standalone treatment or in conjunction with procedures such as injectables, laser and micro needling.

Our favourite combination at Face Plus Medispa would have to be PRP + Micro needling or Dermapen. Micro needling or skin needling is a treatment that creates small micro wounds, it engages the body’s natural repair process, encourages new skin growth and repair, increasing collagen and repairing damages or areas that may be scarred.

When combining needling and PRP, the skin is first needled then the plasma is directly applied to the surface of the skin, as it directly feeds into the micro wounds. The direct contact enhanced the effectiveness of PRP as the plasma is injected into the desired area.

The Dermapen & PRP combinations targets:
Rough or inconsistent skin texture
Sun damage
Acne scars
Stretch marks
Fine wrinkles
Signs of aging
Broken capillaries
Large pores

High Achiever: Renew complexion

Aging skin will often appear red and splotchy, you may see this appearing in your late 30’s to early 40’s.

You will spot this happening on your face, neck, chest and arms. Sometime it appears when triggered or sometime the red complexion never goes away, sometimes getting worse.

Curious as to why it happens? There are a number of reasons:

Sun damage: Sun exposure can alter the appearance of blood vessels under the skin, creating an overall reddish hue. UV rays penetrate the skin and alter your cellular DNA, producing genetic mutations that can lead to changes in your skin’s texture and colour.

Stress: Stress can have a significant impact on your body and skin being your largest organ, it’s no surprise that it is affected. Stress hormones are responsible for your fight or flight response boosting the body heat, leading to flushed or even blotchy skin.

Read some of our stress management techniques here.

Face Plus also offer a facial specifically targeting stressed skin, read more here.

Alcohol: A glass of wine or two a day not only helps you relax but it also alters your brain ability to regulate vascular control. This causes more blood to rush to the surface of your skin. The more alcohol you drink, the more redness will appear.

Skin products: Certain ingredients can irritate your skin causing inflammation. Mild, milk bases cleansers, fragrance free products and products designed for sensitive skin will be ideal if you have any redness present. Read more here.

Prevention is key, past sun damage has done it’s damage but there are ways to reduce the redness too.
We call this product a high achiever, it not only targets redness but the formula helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, too!

All of these factors can have a negative impact on your skin.

Self-Serve: Investing in ME time

Importance of self investment for a balanced life.

We all love a good return on investment, bags and property immediately come to mind BUT investing in yourself is one of the best return on investments you can have.

The first step is self-love, read our tips and rational here.

You don’t have to have mastered the art of self-love to consider some of the below suggestions. The love will come as your progress and get to know yourself a little better:

Read, read and read: The power of reading! Books can take you or introduce you to stories, places and ideas that you may never have thought of. If a hard cover book isn’t your style, try e-books, blogs or even audio books.

Give to yourself: Have you seen that hashtag on social media? Selfcare, Saturday? Or Sunday (but Face Plus doesn’t open on a Sunday)! Allocating time to yourself on a daily basis is also important.

BUT we think giving to yourself in a big way and celebrating your achievements, big or small is also beneficial. Facials, massage and other treatments are a great way to wind down whilst also treating skin or bod concerns you may have.

Healthy, Wealthy and Wise: Take care of yourself and your health. Try and eat right every day, providing your body with the fuel that it needs. Make sure you’re eating foods that are right for your diet and body’s needs. Do you best to do some form of exercise every day. Do something that will get you moving and your heart rate up.

Be happy: Being happy is a choice. Focus on the positive things in your life and be grateful for what you do have.

Bucket list: Do you have one? Maybe you should start one! Travel destinations, goals, life achievements, experiences you want to feel and check off in your life. You can even include realistic goals like – quit sugar, walk for 30 minutes every day or stop wearing too much makeup!

If skin, body or overall health improvements are included as a part of your bucket list, take the time to visit for a thorough consultation with one of our experienced team members:
